Charles Stewart Nash McVilly sold an outstanding pen of Limousin X steers on behalf of CD & EJ Mason. The Vealers went under the hammer for 415c/kg, averaging a return of $1429.68 per head!

Mortlake agents yarded a reduced number of 220 cattle at Mortlake this week, mainly due to the 3 to 4 inches of rain received in the area, which restricted access with the overall offering very good. All the regular processors were present and active, as well as feeders who were very active in a market that was fully firm for the trade cattle heavy steers, cows and manufacturing steers with the heavy grown heifers were slightly dearer in places. The yarding consisted of 46 bullocks, 108 trade cattle, 63 cows and 3 grown bulls.

Milk vealers to the trade made up to 410c restockers paying to 415c/kg. Yearling steers to the trade sold from 360c to 400c, with a heifer portion making from 355c to 408c, feeders paid up to 400c/kg. The grown steers made from 310c to 384c/kg, while grown heifers sold from 310c and 378c/kg. Manufacturing steers made from 240c to 350c/kg.

Heavy beef bred cows sold from 300c to 340c, medium weight beef cows made from 295c to 305c/kg. The very well covered dairy cows sold from 265c to 285c/kg. Lightweight dairy bred cows, made from 210c to 230c/kg. Grown beef bulls made to 282c/kg.
