Two buyers competed fiercely against one another for Daniel O’shannessy’s 6 Ang X Ang steers (194.2kg),  Landmark Warrnambool eventually coming out on top as they sold for 370c/kg, av $718.42 p/head! (Sold by Elders Kerr & Co)

Total Yarding: 643

Agents yarded 643 cattle at Mortlake where the yarding was very mixed in quality ranging from good to fair with not as many heavyweight cows on offer this week. All the Regular processes were in attendance and operated together with restockers in a market that was dearer again this week with restockers being the force creating a very strong competition, the market being $0.20-$0.30c/kg dearer over all with cows on quality were firm to slightly dearer. 

Milk vealers made from 316c/kg to 356c/kg. Yearling steers sold from 295c/kg to 348c/kg. Restockers paying 335c/kg and the heifer portion made from 300c/kg to 347c/kg with restockers paying up to 334c/kg. 

Grown steers made from 270c/kg to 338c/kg, restockers paying to 325c/kg and grown heifers sold from 269c/kg to 335c/kg with restockers paying 334c/kg. Manufacturing steers made from 240c/kg to 287c/kg. Cows C3 and C4 sold from 256c/kg to 280c/kg and the C2 cows sold from 244c/kg to 256c/kg while the light cows sold from 132c/kg to 228c/kg restockers paying to 226c/kg.. Beef bred bulls making up to 254c/kg.
