A bumper crowd braved the icy wind at the June WVLX store sale to see another good quality yarding of beef bred Steers and Heifers, consisting of heavy Angus steers which sold to a keener demand reaching 6-8c/kg more than last sale, with regular feedlot and some interstate competition.

Weaner Steers also met with a strong enquiry from the local district and some South Gippsland competition, with the main line of Spring-drop Ardonchie Angus Steers selling to a top of $1005, with an average weight of 260kg. There was also a line of Angus X Angus Steers that reached a top of $3.11/kg.

A small yarding of grown Heifers also sold to a good feedlot demand and were 10-12c/kg dearer. There were 3 or 4 feature lines of Spring-drop Weaner Heifers that also met with a strong enquiry with the main lines going to South Australia with a top price of $908.

There was a reasonable yarding of Holstein steers that came forward with the top pen of 500kg steers selling for $1.95/kg and the younger Holstein steers sold to a very keen demand, better than previous sales.

There was a feature line of Angus cows with 6-8 month calves at foot, which sold to a top of $1800, with an average price of $1610.

The large crowd in attendance all commented on the excellent presentation and welfare of the cattle.
