MARKET REPORT-STORE SALE-19 MARCH, 2020

The WVLX March Store Sale broke records today! Agents yarded over 6’000 head of cattle and prices stayed very strong and consistent with recent weeks. Although there wasn’t a large crowd due to the recent COVID 19 outbreak, there were still plenty of buyers. Grown steers topped at 412c/kg, averaging $2048. Weighed weaner steers topped at 418c/kg, averaging $1747.83 per head. Open Auction Steers went under the hammer for $1235 per head. 

The heifer section was very solid as buyers showed far more interest in the heifers then the steers today making it a very competitive market. Weighed weaner heifers did exceptional fetching 399c/kg, averaging $1740.64 per head. Grown heifers topped at 410c/kg, averaging $1827.00. Open auctions heifers consisted of a lot of colour, but still made great money making $1450 per head. 

A group of 12 PTIC Heifers topped out at $1690 per head. Plenty of Cows & Calves on show today, with the top pen making $2450 per head. There was a large attendance of feedlot buyers, processors all trying to secure numbers to put on feed for the winter. Northern orders were also in strong demand at WVLX today with cattle going to NSW & QLD.
