MARKET TOP HITS 632c/kg AT PRIME MARKET!

PHOTO: Steers were in hot demand today at WVLX Mortlake and this pen was no exception. Reaching a very handy 632c/kg and topping the market today were these quality Angus X steers, sold by JM Ellis & Co returning $1359ph for CJ & TM Parker.  

Total Yarding: 531

Mortlake agents yarded a similar number to last week of 531 head in a yarding that was mixed in quality at WVLX. A near full field of buyers attended in a market that was fully firm over all categories. The yarding provided a few more younger cattle this week with nearly all but a few returning to the paddock. Restocker and feedlot buyers were very active over all categories. 

The better quality vealers made from 526c to a top of 632c and restockers paid to 632c/kg. The yearling steers made from 460c to 510c, with heifers making from 460c to 506c and feeders paying to a top of 495c/kg. 

Beef-bred grown steers sold from 420c to 500c with feedlotters paying to 480c/kg. Feedlot buyers were active on the heifer portion from 400c to 532c, with restockers paying to a top of 532c/kg. Manufacturing steers made from 340c to 390c/kg. A good run of beef cows saw the heavy end make from 360c to 403c/kg. Medium cows sold to 360c with the medium dairy cows selling to 276c/kg. Good dairy cows sold from 276c to 310c with lighter dairy cows making from 174c to 200c/kg.
