TODAY’S SALE FIRM ON LAST WEEK

Total Yarding: 366

Agents yarded 366 at Mortlake being a decrease of 181 head on the previous market, comprising 270 export and 93 trade cattle. Quality overall was similar to last week’s offering being a typical winter yarding. Not all of the regular buyers were present, however, feeder competition was very strong purchasing most of the grown and trade cattle on offer.

The sale was generally firm over most categories with the exception being beef cows softer by 5c to 10c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers made between 455kc/kg and 510c/kg. Grown Steers and heifers were making between 370c and 485c/kg. Manufacturing Steers sold to 355c/kg.

Best Beef cows sold to 377c with the general run making between 320c and 368c/kg. Medium cows sold from 290c to 332c/kg with the Dairy cows 288c to 344c/kg. Well bred cows back to the paddock sold to a top of 328c/kg.
