PHOTO: Topping the bullocks today was this pen of Angus fellas from Mahogany View Pastoral that went under the Southern Grampians Livestock hammer for 558c/kg, averaging $2682ph.

Mortlake agents yarded a slight increase in numbers on last sale to 642 head comprising 282 export and 360 trade cattle. Quality was again good to mixed. A near full field of regular buyers were present however not all were fully active. The market remained firm for all trade cattle and heavy steers. 

Heavy beef cows were 10 c/kg softer. Better bred cows back to the paddock also eased by 10c/kg. Dairy cows were stronger making up to 300c/kg. 

Vealers with shape sold from 500 c/kg to 588c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers made between 550c/kg and 577c/kg. Grown Steers and heifers sold to a top of 530c/kg. Manufacturing Steers to 435c/kg. 

Best beef cows to 360c/kg with the general run making between 310c and 360c/kg. Medium Cows 234c to 325c/kg with cows back to the paddock selling from 295c/kg to 359c/kg.
