Numbers increased by 175 head this week for a total yarding 1,080. The offering displayed the effects of the season on the livestock penned for market with a good lead and tailing off with a fair number of plainer types available. There was a strong offering of cows of all breeds covering all weights and grades and also a fair offering of manufacturing types. Most regular buyers were in attendance and not operating fully. Feeder interest was sound purchasing mostly beef breeds and suitable trade weights. The overall yarding consisted of 330 grown cattle, 300 trade along with 440 cows and 15 bulls.
The market for grown and trade cattle remained firm to 10c/kg softer. Manufacturing steers were 20 to 30c/kg dearer and most cows improved 25c/kg with the lighter weights improving 30 to 40c/kg in places. Trade steers and heifers made between 280c and 340c/kg. Grown cattle topped at 310c/kg. Manufacturing steers sold from 220c to 288c/kg. Better covered beef cows sold from 230c to 278c/kg with the medium weights selling between 195c and 240c/kg. Dairy types were generally between 210c and 265c with grown beef bulls to 250c and the dairy breeds to 210c/kg.
