Total Yarding: 545

Agents yarded 545 head at Mortlake comprising 353 export and 191 trade as well as 1 bull. Not all of the regular buyers were present and some not all fully active. Feeder competition was very active for grown cattle, however one major feedlot operator was absent. 

The quality on offer overall was again very good to be much improved on last week’s offering. The sale was strong resulting in the grown cattle and trade cattle improving another 5 to 10c/kg cents in places. Manufacturing steers were firm to dearer and the cows remained firm over most categories. 

A very small number of vealers on offer made to 550c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers to the trade made between 480c/kg and 535c/kg. Grown Steers and Heifers making between 440 and 525c/kg. Manufacturing Steers to 460c/kg. 

Best Beef cows – the general run making between 382c/kg and 448c/kg. Dairy Cows made 340 to 410c/kg. Cows back to the paddock 355 to 383c/kg. Beef bred bulls to 382c/kg.
