DAIRY COWS MAKE UP TO 410C/KG

PHOTO: Elaine Veal sold these Charolais X Cows through Southern Grampians Livestock for a top of 448c/kg, averaging a handy $3006ph, while Dairy cows made up to 410c/kg.

Agents yarded 396 at Mortlake an increase of 167 head comprising 283 export and 110 trade. All of the regular buyers were present and feeder competition was active. The quality on offer overall was similar to last week’s offering with more cattle well covered in most categories.

The sale was fully firm over most categories. There was one exceptional pen of dairy cows which realised 410c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers to the Trade made between 450kc/kg and 560c/kg. Feeders paid to 545c/kg. Grown Steers and heifers were making between 457c and 530c/kg. Manufacturing Steers sold to a top of 484c/kg. 

Best Beef cows to 448c/kg with the general run making between 395c/kg and 442c/kg. Dairy Cows made from 290c to 410c/kg whilst cows back to the paddock made from 283c to 370c/kg. Beef bulls made to 346c/kg
