FEEDER COMPETITION STRONG TODAY

Numbers fell by almost half this week to 274 head at Mortlake comprising 163 export and 108 trade. Most of the regular buyers were present, however not all were fully active. Feeder competition was very active for grown cattle as well as trade cattle. The quality on offer was more mixed than previous offerings. The sale was softer to be 10c to 20c/kg cheaper over all categories. 

A very small number of vealers on offer made up to 630c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers to the trade made between 480c and 545c/kg feeders paid to 598c/kg.Grown Steers and Heifers were making between 410c and 521c/kg.k feeders paid to 512c/kg. Manufacturing Steers were selling between 345c and 460c/kg. 

The general run of Beef cows were making between 397c and 415c/kg. Dairy Cows sold from 306c to 350c/kg. Cows returning to the paddock sold from 332c/kg to 342c/kg. Beef bred bulls realized a top of 370c/kg.
