Store/Feature Female Sale Market Report

There were more than 1250 cattle yarded here today at WVLX Mortlake with the Female Feature sale in full swing,  There was reasonable line up of steers, heifers, weaners, cows and calves presented across the board. 

 Yearling steers were 10-15c dearer today then recent sale topping at 308c/kg and 300c/kg consistently overall. Yearling heifers topped at 262c/kg with weaner steers topping at 308c/kg;  as did most of the weaners here today. Weaner heifers topped out at 252c/kg for some Angus X Angus cattle. The main feature of todays store sale was the 500 PTIC Heifers; The J & J Kane dispearsel went really well with their heifers making $2000p/h. There 2017 drop females made up to $2050p/h. Their 2016 drop females made up to $2000, 2015 drop made to $2075p/h, 2014 drop made up to $2000p/h. They also presented a mixed age line of 2009 to 2013 drop cows that made up to $1600 to 1670p/h which is an exceptional result. 

Nampara Pastoral & co also had a big line up of  PTIC Heifers which topped out at $2000p/h making $1800-2000 dollars consistently. Barwidgee Pastoral had 3 pens of cattle in today with their 3 year old heifers topping the sale at $2025p/h. Sambell heifers also did very well making $1700p/h. Overall the female feature sale  did extremely well with buyers & Vendors needing $1500-$2000 in order to walk away with a quality line of heifers. Couple of handfuls of angus cows and calves topped out at $1600 and hereford cows and calves topped out at $1260p/h. With a couple of pens of Crossbred steers making  up to 240.0c/kg
