HEIFERS STRONG AT THE WVLX PRIME MARKET

PHOTO: Heifers were strong today at today’s WVLX prime market with this pen of Angus girls going under the HF Richardson hammer for a top of 562c/kg, averaging $2447ph for Bushy Park Angus Trust.

Numbers came back this week at Mortlake to 431 head comprising 220 export and 215 trade cattle. Quality was again good to plain. A near full field of regular buyers were present most were fully active. All trade cattle sold to firm demand whilst manufacturing steers also remained firm on low numbers.

Beef bred cows were firm to dearer by 20c to 30c/kg whilst Dairy cows remained firm. Vealers with shape sold from 525c/kg to 600c/kg topping at 930c/kg. Yearling Steers and Heifers made between 468c and 562c/kg. Grown Steers and heifers sold to a top of 520c/kg making between 468c and 505c/kg. 

Manufacturing Steers sold up to 356c/kg.

Best Beef cows sold to 384c with the general run making between 300c and 365c/kg. Medium Cows were 256c to 330c/kg whilst dairy cows sold between 280c to 330c/kg. Better bred Cows returning to the paddock sold from 262c to 360c/kg.
