SOFTER SALE TODAY IN MORTLAKE

Numbers rose by 224 to 732 head at WVLX Mortlake comprising 509 export and 223 trade cattle. Most of the regular buyers were present however, not all were fully active. Feeder competition was still active for grown cattle as well as trade cattle. The quality on offer was much the same as previous markets. 

The sale was softer over most categories. Grown and yearling steers and heifers were back by 5c to 10c/kg whilst manufacturing steers were softer by 10c/kg with the cows losing 30 c/kg. 

Yearling Steers and Heifers to the trade made between 455c and 558c/kg. Grown Steers and Heifers were making between 400c and 500c/kg. Manufacturing Steers sold from 340c to 463c/kg. 

The general run of Beef cows were making between from 300c to 395c/kg. A small number dairy cows on offer made to 330c/kg. Cows back to the paddock sold from 272c/kg to 330c/kg. Beef bred bulls realized a top of 380c/kg.
