MARKET REPORT-PRIME CATTLE- AUGUST 10, 2020

Southern Grampians Livestock & Real Estate sold an outstanding pen of Angus steers on behalf of Baulch Feedlot at today’s Prime Cattle Sale with the steers topping the entire market fetching 427c/kg, and an average return of $2110.09 per head! 

Total Yarding: 370

Agents yarded 370 cattle at Mortlake this week’s offering was overall far better than last week’s sale and there was some very good well finished trade cattle on offer as well as cows. Not all the regular processors and all feeders were present and active however there was more feeder activity in a market that was firm to dearer where the grown steers and heifers were 15c/kg stronger. The yarding comprised of 17 bullocks, 205 trade cattle, 143 cows and 5 grown bulls.

The pick of the milk vealers to the trade made to 392c/kg. Yearling steers to the trade realised 370c to 427c, with the heifer portion making from 350c to 416c/kg. Feeders and restockers paid to 416c/kg. The grown steers made from 292c to 399c with grown heifers making from 280c to 363c/kg.

Manufacturing steers made from 265c to 336c/kg. The heavy beef bred cows selling from 295c to 315c/kg. Medium weights beef bred sold

from 255c to 295c/kg. The very well covered dairy cows sold from 245c to 265c and medium weight dairy cows sold Cows back to the paddock sold to 278c/kg. Grown beef bulls made to 266c/kg.
