There was a cheaper trend throughout the market this week with only odd sales of restocking yearlings and the rare vealer sales firm to dearer. Grown steers sold 5c to 10c/kg easier but those to restocking averaged unchanged. Grown heifers were up to 20c cheaper while beef cows made 20c to 30c/kg less. The dairy and plain conditioned beef cows were 10c to 20c/kg cheaper. Some young cattle were up to 20c/kg cheaper. The current following of buyers attended the mixed but mainly good quality yarding of 549 cattle, 40 more.
The few vealers made to 581c while the yearlings to the trade mainly sold between 435c and 485c with a single very good steer at 510c/kg. Restockers paid mostly 425c to 520c with the best of the steers 490c to 548c and two sales went up to 581c and 612c/kg. Plain and dairy bred yearlings sold between 325c and 385c/kg.
Grown steers made 448c to 480c with a sale to 510c while restockers paid 430c to 520c/kg. Older and extra heavy bullocks were from 350c to 428c/kg. The grown heifers sold between 426c and 456c/kg.
Beef cows made 370c to 412c with the few dairy cows from 338c to 390c and the leaner and plain conditioned beef cows sold at 334c to 374c/kg.
