Prime Cattle – 9 December, 2019

Cows and plain quality young cattle were equal and up to 20c/kg cheaper in the mixed but mainly good quality offering of 519 cattle, 266 more. A regular following of buyers attended the sale which saw grown steers remain firm to 5c better while bulls and grown heifers eased 2c to 5c/kg.

The C muscled vealers sold from 258c to 288c with two pens of B muscled vealers at 306c and 308c/kg. Restockers paid from 280c to 287c and then from 243c to 282c/kg for their yearlings. Processors purchased yearlings from 230c to 298c with plainer D muscled selling from 135c/kg.

The C3 and C4 grown steers made from 255c to 291c while their grown heifer equivalents sold from 235c to 277c/kg. Heavy weight C3 and C4 beef cows made from 222c to 230c with the overfat cows at 218c and 220c/kg. The D2 grade made from 185c to 208c with D1 cows selling from 170c to 180c/kg. Heavy weight B2 beef bulls sold from 248c to 270c/kg.
