MARKET REPORT-STORE SALE-17 SEPTEMBER, 2020

Southern Grampians Livestock & Real Estate client “Gumbridge Trust” were awarded the best presented pen of heifers today. The 10 Angus heifers went under the hammer for 392c/kg, returning $1636.60 per head!

Spring has arrived and there was no shortage of cattle at today’s September Store Sale at WVLX. Agents yarded 3’513 cattle today with prices staying very strong on the back of last month, agents quoting the sale slightly dearer than August. Grown steers averaged between 400-420c/kg, topping out at 442c/kg or $2268.42 per head.  Weaner steers made from 420c/kg-450c/kg with a top of 550c/kg or $1840.00 per head. Open Auction Steers topped at $1390 per head or just over 600c/kg.

Today’s yarding consisted of 1’270 heifers, the majority of Grown heifers making between 390-410c/kg with a top of 448c/kg or $1813.90. Weaner heifers averaged 410-440c/kg with the top pen going under the hammer for 458c/kg or $ 1743.00 per head. Open auction heifers topped out at $1230 per head or 530c/kg.

There were 55 Cow & Calf units on offer today with top pen making to $2460 per head, the balance averaging $2152.00 per head. A handful of PTIC Females made to a top of $1700 per head.  X-bred steers made to a top of 380c/kg or $1760.00 and Friesian steers topping out at 330c/kg or $1596.00. A small portion of F1 Heifers made to a top of  388c/kg, or $1514.67 per head.
