Yarding: 5,326

It was a beautiful day for the March store sale at WVLX in Mortlake today. Agents yarded 5,326 head of cattle which sold to a very strong demand once again. The top end of the Grown Steers got out to 479c/kg for steers that were 440-450kg. Most of the black feeder steers that were in the slot for feedlotters today made between 440c/kg and 475c/kg. The Weaner Steers that were 400kg+ changed hands for between 460-490c/kg. There were some good runs of spring drop Weaner Steers today, with the steers that were 200-250kg making between 650c/kg to a top of about 750c/kg (for the calves that were a touch over 200kg).

The best end of the Grown Heifers made between 420-450c/kg for weights of 420kg+. Again a good run of spring drop light Weaner Heifers weighing around 200-260kg which made from 560c/kg and topped at 650c/kg (for heifers that were about 210-215kg).

Cows & Calves topped at $3500ph for a great pen of Speckle Park Cows with big Calves at foot. We then moved into F1 Steers with the best of the Angus Friesian X Steers that were a bit over 400kg making 428c/kg. There was very good demand for F1 Steers in general, mostly making around 380-400c/kg. There were also a fair few Friesian Steers yarded today with a lot of weight, and those on either side of 500kg made between 340-360c/kg.

All in all a fantastic result here in Mortlake – our congratulations to all the vendors!
